This blog is a collaboration of ECE's interested in my trip to China to work in day care. These ECE's are all Reggio Inspired and hope to be able to use my experiences in creating or enhancing projects they may have happening in their centres.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

chinabloggers
Hi all, I thought I'd get off one more blog before I head home. I'm very busy at work these days. You know what Dec. is like. The children have been learning Must Be Santa which is new to everyone here except the Canadians it seems. On Sat. I went to a Christmas Bazaar which wasn't at all like the ones at home with homemade crafts. There are a lot of vendors selling things from their stores. I got a few Christmas presents and a baby gift for a baby shower we are going to on Sat. Next week is busy with Christmas activities - Carols by Candlelight, staff party, and a concert at the Shanghai concert hall which is free.
Well I have come up against the "this is China" syndrome. That is what people say when they are faced with difficulties or irritations due to the culture. To be discreet it is "t i c". I have been trying to arrange to have all my savings to take to Canada. When I asked a few weeks ago about buying Canadian dollars at the bank they said, "Oh, yes it will take 3 days." When I went to do it this week it was, "oh no, we can't give you Canadian dollars." They can transfer it home but I didn't have the right paper work. Went back the next day with the right papers. I didn't have enough of the right papers. I need more tax receipts. As I was typing this I had more tax receipts (that is Octobers receipt) delivered to me from one of the office staff. So hopefully tonight I can complete the transaction and the money will arrive in my Canadian bank account in a few days. Cross your fingers for me. I probably won't write again until after the New Year.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all of you.
