This blog is a collaboration of ECE's interested in my trip to China to work in day care. These ECE's are all Reggio Inspired and hope to be able to use my experiences in creating or enhancing projects they may have happening in their centres.

I just re-read my last posting. That walk from one ferry dock to the other ferry dock was about a 2 hour walk without the stop for a drink (of course it was Coke, Wendy). And I still don't have my things back from Hong Kong but a friend of a friend has picked it up and is coming to Shanghai next week. So I will be able to show you those pictures.
Guess what I had to do today. It was time to get rid of the overused rice from the sensory table and so the aiyi was asked to dispose of it. The aiyi told the other teachers about it and one came to see about using it but when I told her it was old and our children had been playing it for far too long already, of course she didn't want it. Then I heard 2 aiyis talking about it (yes I recognized their talk in Chinese) and I asked Diana exactly what was happening and blah blah blah. So I repeated that it had to go in the garbage. Diana finally tells me the aiyis can't throw it in the garbage because the gods would be angry with them (rice - food, you know). So I had to throw it in the garbage so the gods could be angry with me and not them. It was all really quite hilarious.
The temperature was 28 degrees celsius today so I had on some summer clothes but it is supposed to be only 18 tomorrow and raining so it is not quite summer yet.
I have to get ready for a wedding shower now. We have had 2 babies born and 1 expected in about 2 weeks, since Dec. and one of the teachers is off to Hawaii to get married while we are on holidays the first week of May. Talk to you later.
