This blog is a collaboration of ECE's interested in my trip to China to work in day care. These ECE's are all Reggio Inspired and hope to be able to use my experiences in creating or enhancing projects they may have happening in their centres.

Here are a few of my pictures from Hong Kong. This was a great trip. I spent 9 days there this time and was with my friend Moira who lived there for 20 years so it was very easy for me to get around and see all the sights.
Sai Kung where my brother Paul and his wife Sandra lived.

The restaurant in Western Market

Western Market - small, a whole floor of fabrics and one of little expensive shots and a restaurant on the 3rd floor where I stopped to have tea.

skyscrapers and mountains such a contrast

One last picture from Harbin - me sliding down a hill of solid ice - great fun.

pics of Harbin

Harbin was a lot of fun and despite the cold (around -14 C.) it was more comefortable there than in Shanghai because they have central heating. It was amazing to see these ice and snow sculptures especially at night with the lights on. Every year their theme is in relationship to another country. This year was France, last year was Canada. I hope you enjoy the pictures and I will have pictures from my trip to Hong Kong probably tomorrow or the next day.
The Eiffel Tower in China.

The Forbidden City

This is one of the Canadian Sculptures

This is a view of the ice festival just as the lights were being turned on. Lydia walked up the ice stairs to the ice acropolis and got this pic. It really is beautiful to see.

Moira and I rode around in this sleigh.

Polar Bear swimmers

Although this is I believe Emma sliding down the hill, I slid down this hill also. I don't actually have that picture yet but I will post it when it is e-mailed to me. The hill is solid ice and they had little pads to sit on. This hill is at the sight of the polar bear swimmers spot.

Hong Kong

I've been in Hong Kong for a week and have been very busy sightseeing. I've been to 2 beautiful parks - Hong Kong Park and Kowloon Park, a few museums, the cultural centre, Sai Kung where my brother lived and to Lantau Island. Again I have no pictures because of my camera situation but will be getting some e-mailed to me and will post them at that time. I'm still waiting for my Harbin pictures and hope to have them when I go back to Shanghai on Tues. As you may have noticed I have not been posting much. I feel it has become a simple diary of my travels and had hoped for so much more in the beginning. I'm also tired of being over here and will be very happy when I am home this summer. It has been an exciting, fascinating adventure and I strongly recommend it to anyone who wants to see more of the world and learn about other cultures. Teachers have a great opportunity working at international schools and seeing the world at the same time. You can google international schools to start looking around at the possibilities or go to
