Sunset. Although we were up for the sunrise we missed it because we were in the wrong place.

Jodie, Lydia, Veronica, Bonnie, Daniel, Lisbeth and me.

Last weekend I went to Yellow Mountain with 6 others (it was supposed to be 7 but 1 girl missed the train). As well there was another group of 4 people from Yew Chung on the same train as us. The train was overnight and not too bad a trip. We bought a "soft sleeper" which was in no way soft but we all managed to sleep off and on. We then had a 1 hour car ride to the base of the mountain. Along the way the scenery was spectacular. You could see the mountain top and there were fields and terraces of beautiful white and yellow flowers which we learned was actually tea. There were no lookout points however so we couldn't get pictures either coming or going but it was some of the best views. From the base of the mountain we took the cable car up and from there it was supposed to be a 15 - 20 minute walk to our hotel. Three hours of hard climbing later we arrived. (Mike, it was much worse than the walk to the hostel in Florence.) It turns out we headed in the wrong direction to begin with and then took a wrong turn along the way. The climbing was all up and down stairs that were built into the mountain, uneven steps, steep steps. The beautiful views were hidden behind the trees that were right in front of our faces, our hotel was down in a gully and we were pissed off by the time we were in our hotel. All of us saying (that is 4 of us because 2 left us at the base of the mountain to walk all the way and arrived at the hotel about the same time as us)this is not worth what we just went through to get here. By the end of the weekend Jodie and Lydia decided that they want to come again. It is beautiful and if we had stayed at a different hotel we could have seen these views more easily. Everywhere you go you have to climb up and down stairs to get there. We were all very stiff and sore after the weekend even the young skinny people. The last thing we did before we took the bus back to Shanghai was have a foot massage. The bus trip was good and only 5 hours as compared to the 12 hour train ride. Enjoy the pics.
